Opportunity:

Locum Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry - X2 positions (Cork)

Cork is the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland located in the Southern Region and is known as the food capital of Ireland. Cork City is smaller, more affordable, and more laid back than Dublin, but still has a vibrant nightlife, fantastic restaurants and pubs, and a thriving music and culture scene. Ireland is ranked 5th of the countries with the highest education in the world and has a number of private schools and Universities, it also has an airport with destinations across Europe and the UK.

Cork has a sizable expat community, including Europeans and people from other parts of the world.

Cork Airport is only about 20 minutes by taxi from the city and there are direct flights to places like Edinburgh London, Amsterdam, and Venice

Within this area's Mental Health Services provides an extensive range of services to a population of approximately 542,196. The general adult sectors offer a diverse range of services including comprehensive acute inpatient care which is augmented by a liaison team based on the 7-day service model. Multidisciplinary care is provided and delivered through Community Mental Health Teams, Day Hospitals, Day Centres, and Home Based Treatment Team. The Rehabilitation Teams include Psychiatry of Later Life and Assertive Outreach where emphasis is on person-centred care, patient safety, and quality outcome.

Essential Criteria

  • Specialist Registration with Irish Medical Council or eligibility for Specialist Registration within Psychiatry.
  • UK and EEA candidates with Specialist Registration can apply but will have to be able to commence by Feb 2024.

Compensation and Benefits

A package totaling up to €292,000 per annum.

  • Basic pay of €214,113 - €257,193 on a six-point scale
  • Up to €20,000 on call
  • 37-hour week with an 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm Saturday
  • Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable
  • Highly flexible contract that enables consultants opt for a variety of different work patterns
  • Up to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant
  • 12-24 month contract
  • Relocation costs up to €3000
  • Maximum tax rate of 40% in Ireland
