About the Practice

The practice comprises two GP Directors, along with seven other part-time GPs, complemented by a dedicated team of nurses, clinical support staff, Practice Manager, and Finance Officer. With seven GP consulting rooms, five nurse consult rooms, a telephone triage room, and equipped with essential medical tools such as ECG, spirometry, Butterfly US, and a minor surgery suite, the practice ensures comprehensive patient care. It further extends its services with a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP), a health coach, and regular visits from an Orthopaedic surgeon and a specialist physiotherapist. Emphasizing continuous improvement, the practice upholds robust peer review programs for both doctors and nurses, fostering innovation and academic excellence. Notably, it stands out as the sole medical practice south of Christchurch offering an intravenous therapy clinic and facilitates a daily laboratory service. Accredited with Health Care Homes certification, it proudly holds the distinction of being the first general practice in Otago and Southland to do so, serving a growing base of 8,200 enrolled patients.

Collaborating with the Gore hospital-based GP for after-hours services, the local hospital boasts an accident and emergency department, featuring 20 inpatient beds (including four maternity), visiting specialists, and essential support services like laboratory, x-ray, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, social work, and mental health services. Complementing these medical services, a local St John’s ambulance service with paramedic support ensures swift emergency response. For specialized care, the base hospital at Southland, located 76 kilometers from the practice, stands ready to provide additional resources. If this opportunity resonates with you and you wish to explore further, we have extensive experience in assisting doctors in realizing their aspirations of relocating to New Zealand.
