Geriatrician - Consultant

Would you like to provide direct clinical care and improve outcomes for patients, all whilst living in one of the most liveable cities in the world? Our client is a major provider of healthcare services in North and West Auckland, serving a population of approximately 640,000 people and employing more than 8,400 people.

This consultant role is part of a dedicated team of Geriatricians who are focused on enabling best practice in specialist medical care for older people both directly and through interactions with junior and senior medical staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the clinical director of geriatrics to develop and implement new models of care for older people. A key component of the implementation will be leading and developing the clinical excellence and performance measures and the continuous quality improvement programme for the geriatric service.

If dual trained and experienced in acute stroke management, you will have the option of working with acute stroke patients in the integrated stroke unit where stroke rehabilitation is also delivered. The position will also include regular outpatient clinics in addition to your ward work. Auckland, New Zealand consistently ranks as one of the world’s most liveable cities. The natural environment and subtropical climate, stable political and social environment, and a comprehensive publicly funded health system were the top three contributing factors for Auckland achieving this spot in the rankings.

Auckland is also famous for its easy access to beaches and bush walks, along with numerous high quality restaurants and wineries.

In return, you will be given a wonderful opportunity to work in a supportive environment with many opportunities to grow and develop your skills.

The successful candidate will be registered (or registrable) with the New Zealand Medical Council and if you are from overseas or outside Auckland, our candidate care team will help with the logistics of immigration and relocation, to make your move as smooth as possible.

If you are interested in this position, please apply online and attach an up to date copy of your CV for consideration.
