We provide secondary services for a population of approximately 40,880, providing 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and paediatrics. The hospital operates both Public & Private theatre sessions covering General Surgery, Anaesthetics, Orthopaedics, Urology, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, as well as Ophthalmic and ENT.

 You will be one of three General Surgeons in a unit which provides a comprehensive service for the population of the Wairarapa. The Health Board also has a close liaison with Selina Sutherland Hospital, an independent private facility, and there may be opportunities for work in this facility.

This is a permanent full time position, working 80 hours (1.0FTE) with an on call requirement of 1 in 3. Applicants must be eligible for Vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Upper and lower GI endoscopy is a required skill.
