The Hospital
Dunedin Hospital is a University Teaching hospital. With just under 400 beds, the hospital provides general care for a population of approximately 180,000 and specialist care for approximately 350,000 people spread over the lower South Island of New Zealand. You will work in a department with a strong academic presence and will have the opportunity to undertake research. Educational support includes journal clubs, case discussions, peer review, and weekly training. You will gain exposure to tertiary level caseloads working across a diverse range of surgical subspecialties, including:
- General Surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Colorectal
- Upper gastrointestinal
- Vascular Surgery
- Breast Surgery
- Hepatobiliary
- Plastics
- Reliever (Note that Relievers will also cover the Urology Registrar)
