Our hospital client is now seeking applications for a General Medicine Physician
1.0FTE Permanent, Full time position
You will work within a team of 5 physicians to provide General Medicine services for the people of the Whanganui region. There is a strong desire to change the model of care by which General Medicine services are provided. Currently the service utilises a two-tier approach with consultant physicians supported by house officers. There is a determination to introduce a registrar tier progressively over the next few years, alongside which will be the development of departmental protocols to ensure safe staffing and distribution of workload.
There is the ability for individual consultants to develop informal sub-specialty interests consistent with a successful secondary care setting. The introduction of a registrar tier will require change to how the senior team operates in terms of weekly structure and team dynamics and will also require the underpinning culture of the department to be addressed as part of this change process.
