Gastroenterologist
Rotorua, New Zealand

The Medical Service wishes to recruit an enthusiastic, dedicated Specialist Gastroenterologist colleague to join the current team who has a passion for service improvement and would like to be part of our journey.
We are a cohesive team of physicians providing inpatient undifferentiated medical services to our District of approximately 110,000.

About the role

The appointee will join a team of 2 existing Specialists Medical Officers and will support the delivery of high quality care. The post will offer a real opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in the provision of Endoscopy Services and the development of improved services for patients and further development of a cohesive team. In particularly we are keen to have applicants who wish to develop ERCP and or EUS. The clinical responsibility of the post out patients and endoscopy lists across two sites along with regular departmental meetings.

Rotorua is currently under taking to build a new Endoscopy Unit which is a further step forward in the development of the service. The role is also supported by a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for IBD and Hepatology. We also have a CNS for Upper GI services.

The role has an expectant of contribution to the general medical service for a minority of the year and includes participation on the acute medical on call roster. The Specialist Gastroenterologist role will be predominantly delivered in off ward time.
