About the role
We are looking for General Otolaryngologist/s to join our department.
The successful applicants will be a highly motivated team player and will enjoy a very collegial relationship. The role is based at Wellington, however the successful candidate will be expected to work across the greater Wellington region in line with a current change to establish a sub-regional ENT service.
The position will involve a range of acute and elective general ORL surgery however application from a post-fellow or experienced surgeon with a sub-specialty area of interest, particularly in Otology, would be welcomed.
Some undergraduate teaching is expected as well as supervision and teaching of registrars in the otolaryngology training rotation.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The department currently consists of nine general and subspecialist surgeons who provide a wide range of service to the greater Wellington region and tertiary level care for the wider region. Current recruitment to the sub-regional service will see the team increase to 11 surgeons.
These include general otolaryngology, rhinology and anterior skull base surgery, otology, lateral skull base and acoustic neuroma surgery, cochlear implantation, paediatric otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. We work in close collaboration with oncology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, paediatric and neurosurgery services. Suitable candidates will have opportunities for research
The district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals as well as a Health Centre at Paraparaumu.
About you
- Vocationally registered in Otolaryngology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or eligible
- FRACS or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Participate in relevant service and clinical meetings
- Relevant experience and training
