We're seeking a Consultant in Emergency Medicine to be based in Rockhampton, Central Queensland - a regional city which offers an ideal lifestyle and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

The Role and Hospital
Join this enthusiastic and dynamic group of clinicians who are keen to develop innovative practices to help continue to improve the delivery of Emergency medical care:

  • regional adult and paediatric mix emergency department with an annual attendance of 50,000 presentations and 25% are paediatric.  
  • full spectrum of Emergency Care with trauma and resuscitation a core component of work along with the management of routine emergency/urgent patient presentations.
  • strong and innovative clinical practice with ongoing development of point of care clinical ultrasound, procedural sedation, non-invasive and invasive ventilation, toxicological and toxinological practices.
  • significant paediatric load and we have a new department designed with suitable clinical space for the anticipated clinical workload.
  • Participate in the Emergency Department extended hours roster and the 24 hours on call roster

Rockhampton Hospital (305 bed) is the main referral hospital for the Central Queensland region, which now also provides integrated cancer care services in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment. In addition, there are smaller satellite hospitals in the region who will transfer patients through to Rockhampton as required.

Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABEM certified) or New Zealand.
