The Role
Gladstone Hospital emergency department is transitioning into newly constructed $42 million state of art emergency department. This position will give opportunity in developing and implementing contemporary evidence-based model of care implementation. You will:
- Assist in developing and supporting clinical practice in the surrounding areas of Central Queensland and through the use of Telehealth provide additional support and clinical input as required and possible through the available resource.
- Participate in a 24 hour on call roster ensuring an appropriate profile of medical services is available at all times.
- Actively engage in the supervision of, and provide teaching to, staff, (medical, nursing, and allied health), including specialist trainees medical students, junior medical staff on rotation with the Department of Emergency Medicine as well as assist in the delivery of robust educational programs through the Medical Education Unit.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.

Gladstone Hospital is a 70-bed hospital and offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedic, clinical investigation, obstetrics, maternity, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology, and paediatrics.
Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service, oral health, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech pathology and outreach/community-based facilities, as well as a Primary Health Care Centre located at Boyne Valley. Gladstone Hospital has approximately 282 full-time equivalent staff delivering services across acute, community and primary care.
