The Role
There are two hospitals in the region servicing a population of approximately 116,000. The Emergency Departments have approximately 30,000 presentations annually and treat a broad range of patients. The NWRH Emergency Department has an annual attendance rate of 28,000 patients per year with 28% admission rate. The Department treats a broad range of patients including major trauma cases. It is the referral centre for several district hospitals including King Island.
The Location

Burnie is a port city with an industrial past that has reinvented itself as a vibrant and creative city on a beautiful stretch of Tasmania's North West Coast. Take a beachside and downtown stroll and find a vibrant mix of shops and eateries serving up fresh coffee, seafood and local produce. Burnie has an art deco flavour, with fine architectural examples that you can explore on foot.
Latrobe is a river town famous for its heritage and the fresh produce that grows in the region's rich and fertile soils. There are lots of eateries serving fresh produce, plus scenic farm gates and vineyards where you can sample food from the source.
