The Role
Bunbury hospital is a regional hospital comprising a 143 bed hospital. The Emergency department is the largest in Western Australia outside Perth and receives in excess of 43,000 presentations per year. As a regional department, this includes the entire spectrum of emergency presentations with children forming more than 25% of the patient cohort and overall high acuity reflected in a greater than 40% admission rate. Teaching, supervision, and mentorship of junior doctors is a large element of the role and therefore positive role modelling are required both ‘on the floor’ and by engagement in indirect patient care activities including quality assurance.
