I am seeking a Consultant/Director - Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work in the coastal city of Rockhampton, Central Queensland, Australia.
Rockhampton offers an ideal lifestyle for singles, couples, families alike and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
This is a clinical position but also has a statutory governance component to it. An overseas trained doctor would be eligible for this position. The position reports to the Clinical Director of the mental health care service (of which there are 10 full time psychiatrists). There is one existing CAMS Psychiatrist there and another scheduled to start work in early 2019.
Applicants have the choice to take on the administrative director requirement - it's up to you!

You will have a high level of knowledge, proficiency and skills in Child & Youth Psychiatry; proven leadership skills and experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment; and willingness to participate in quality improvement programs.
You will have completed your specialist training in the UK, Ireland or NZ, hold MRCPsych. Due to RANZCP requirements you will also have completed 6 months of consultation psychiatry and 6 months of CAMHS in your basic or advanced training.
Rockhampton Hospital (305 bed) is the main referral hospital for the Central Queensland region.
The Central Queensland Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (CQMHAODS) provides specialist mental health, substance and alcohol related care to residents of the Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Biloela, Moura, Woorabinda and Central Highlands districts and adult patients of the Central West Hospital & Health Service. The population covered is approx. 225-230,000.
There are currently 10 Consultants in the service and it is well supported by middle grade doctors. On call is 1:8 during weekdays and 1:6 during weekends.

Stroll along the river, drive out to the coast exploring the many beaches, the Carnarvon National Park, the botanic gardens, as well as the Great Barrier Reef.
Brisbane is just a short 1hr 15m flight from Rockhampton’s local airport.
