We have a new requirement for a Consultant Vascular Surgeon to work on the beautiful Cayman Islands.
Our client provides and administers health care services and public health functions for residents and visitors of the Cayman Islands in accordance with the National Strategic Plan for Health.
Services are delivered primarily through the 124-beds at the Cayman Islands Hospital (the country’s principal health care facility), and the 18-beds at the Faith Hospital on Cayman Brac. Health care can also be obtained at district health centres, and clinics for dental and ophthalmologic care. Residents of Little Cayman can access care through the island’s clinic which is a purpose[1]built facility.
You must have Specialist Medical Registration/Board Certification from one of the following countries: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Jamaica
- You should have full GMC registration with a licence to practice, and be on the Specialist Register, or equivalent
- You will need a minimum of 3 years post specialist certificate (CCT or equivalent)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform reconstructive and restorative operations including balloon angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and the removal of blood clots
- Perform vascular access
- Access for Haemodialysis
- Consent and assist for surgeries with varied physicians and surgeons Perform artery repair or bypass T
Treat the following conditions:
• Carotid artery disease • Aneurysms • Critical limb ischemia • Venous disease • Lymphoedema
Hospitals
Faith Hospital, in Cayman Brac, is an 18-bed community hospital serving the residents of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman with primary, secondary and emergency care. As part of the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, Faith Hospital provides services in the fields of general medicine, surgery, dialysis, anaesthesia, physiotherapy, dental, obstetrics and gynaecology. Emergency Medical Services provides pre-hospital care and transport. Faith Hospital also has a pharmacy onsite for those in need of medication.
The Cayman Islands Hospital, the principal health care facility in the country, is a modern, 139,066 sq. ft., two-story facility with 124 beds. It offers accident and emergency services; a wide range of surgical services; a Critical Care Unit, physiotherapy; a pharmacy; a central sterilisation unit; and laboratory services, including a state-of-the-art forensic unit - along with many other facilities a person would expect in a modern health care setting.
This is a 24-hour full-service medical facility. There are four operating theatres; a dialysis unit; oncology unit; X-ray; morgue; and a forensic and drug testing laboratory. Other facilities include: outpatient specialist clinics, administrative offices, and a modern high-tech electronic health information management section.
