- Salary Package $322,030 -$389,669 (dependant on experience)
The Role
As a Staff Specialist Respiratory Physician, you will deliver comprehensive respiratory services to both inpatients and outpatients at Dubbo Health Service, with a focus on contemporary, evidence-based care. You will be part of a developing service that currently includes:
- Two full-time Respiratory Physicians
- One full-time Respiratory Scientist
- One Respiratory Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC)
You will:
- Provide respiratory consultations (1 in 3 roster) and general medicine on-call (1 in 12)
- Perform and supervise procedures including bronchoscopy and intercostal chest drain insertion
- Manage patients requiring acute non-invasive ventilation
- Deliver outpatient respiratory clinics
- Supervise and train junior doctors, registrars, and medical students
- Engage in quality improvement, education, and safety initiatives
- Lead and contribute to regular departmental meetings and hospital Grand Rounds
- Be involved in service development and departmental leadership
You will work closely with medical administration, the Emergency Department, and specialists across the hospital to ensure safe, timely, and effective care. You'll also contribute to ongoing efforts to maintain accreditation and strengthen the department’s academic and clinical profile.
Requirements:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), or eligibility via specialist pathway
- Recent experience in Respiratory Medicine aligned with service needs
- Strong procedural skills in bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to teaching, education, quality improvement, and patient-centred care
- Willingness to participate in the on-call roster and contribute to broader hospital activities
