The Goldfields in Western Australia is a diverse and fascinating region. It’s natural environment ranges from the sprawling deserts in the North and East to the beautiful pristine white beaches and emerald seas in the South.  Industries include mining, agriculture, aquaculture and tourism. The Census in 2016 indicated a population of 54,821 with a higher rate of mental health presentation then the state average.

 

Indigenous Australians make up 12% of the population (compared to 3.6% of the rest of the State of WA) but are 5.4 times more likely to be hospitalised.

 

Youth suicide rates are higher than average and other statistics illustrate that your contribution will make a massive difference to the population in the region.

You will have hold FRANZCP or have completed your specialist training in General Psychiatry in  either UK, Ireland, USA, Canada or NZ and hold

  • a minimum of 3 years experience as a Consultant/Specialist in acute mental health care using a shared care model of service.
  • At least 6 months experience in a formal training post in CAMHS or LD.
  • First class communication skills with a personable ability to get on with people from all walks of life.
  • A high level ability to work independently.
  • A desire for a challenge and to push your own boundaries.
