Opportunity:
Delighted to share Head Medical is seeking a GMC specialist registered Consultant Medical Microbiologist to provide consultant-delivered services at a UKAS 15189 accredited, state-of-the-art laboratory purposed built as the main area you will undertake duties. A great opportunity here for a Consultant Medical Microbiologist to join one of the largest hospital trusts in East England.
The job plan consists of 10PA, 8.5 Direct Clinical care, and 1.5 Support Programmed Activities. We are open to additional SPA time if appropriately evidenced through diary exercises and via the job planning process.
You will be joining the 1:4 on call rota on a non-resident basis.
The department is equipped with modern automated equipment and provides a high quality, well-respected clinical microbiology service to hospital clinicians and general practitioners in the area (approximately population 300,000).
A comprehensive range of microbiological services is provided, including general bacteriology, parasitology, mycology and liquid mycobacterial culture, serology, and virus detection. The department has a purpose built PCR suite supporting a full Chlamydia testing and screening service and with a continuously extending repertoire of diagnostic PCR tests.

Essential criteria
As a Consultant Medical Microbiologist, you'll need to have:
- FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT
- Specialists in medical microbiology, recognised by EU are eligible to apply
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working as part of an Infection Control team
