Opportunity:

Delighted to share Head Medical are seeking a GMC specialist registered Consultant within Orthodontics to provide consultant-delivered services at a leading NHS Trust in Yorkshire.

The department you;ll be positioned in provides specialist orthodontic advice, routine and multi-disciplinary treatment and also provides clinical and didactic teaching in orthodontics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The 15-chair Orthodontic Department is located on the first floor of the Dental Hospital. The Department has a multidisciplinary clinic area, 3 side surgeries and a Covid secure open plan 9 chair polyclinic.

There are separate undergraduate and postgraduate cephalometric tracing rooms, equipped with computer facilities for digitising lateral skull radiographs, storing digital images, orthognathic planning (Dolphin) and for medical audit (OPAS,TOPAS).

As a Consultant in Orthodonticsyou'll:

  • Provide an efficient orthodontic service
  • Proficiency in all commonly used Orthodontic techniques
  • Expertise on a range of Orthodontic problems
  • Interest in subspecialties: cleft lip & palate, joint restorative /orthodontic and orthognathic cases
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with patients/relatives and colleagues
  • Effective participation in audit
  • Planning and supervising treatment
  • Willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework and targets
  • Ability to appraise scientific literature critically
  • Ability to work in a team with good interpersonal skills especially relating to cross speciality working
  • Experience of planning and providing orthognathic treatment in combination with Maxillofacial surgeons
  • Experience in providing treatment in combination with Restorative Dentistry Consultants

Essential criteria

  • Full Registration with a Licence to Practise with the General Dental Council (GDC) and the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • GDC Specialist Register for Orthodontics
  • MOrth or equivalent (evidence that has been attained within 3 months of interview)
  • Intercollegiate speciality Fellowship Examination in orthodontics or the equivalent of 2 years post CCST training
