Opportunity:

A great opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual within the specialty of Haematology to forge the future of the service at this trust and join the existing team of two consultants.

As a Consultant in Haematology, you'll:

  • Provide a Consultant Haematology service for inpatient and outpatient services and for the proper functioning of the department.
  • Continuous responsibility for laboratory quality assurance and compliance with hospital transfusion policies and development of such policies where necessary.
  • Participate in the on-call rota on a 1 in 4 basis including laboratory supervision, clinical liaison and support to the busy clinical haematology service on an inpatient and outpatient basis. 
  • The post-holder will participate in the clinical management of Haemato-Oncology patients at the network multi-disciplinary meeting

Essential criteria

  • MRCP
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualifications
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview

Desirable Criteria

  • Evidence of planning and completing audit.
  • Experience in teaching.
  • Experience in one or more other subspecialist areas
  • Experience of management issues at departmental level
