Head Medical are currently welcoming applications from Consultant Histopathologists to join an enthusiastic, dynamic and supportive team based in North Yorkshire. The current team consists of six Consultants and two Associate Specialists. This opportunity is a replacement post offered on a permanent basis. It combines Histopathology, Cytology (Non-Gynae) and if desired, Mortuary duties. This job requires no on-call.

The NHS trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation and a reputation for providing high quality services. The department has recently consolidated its services and now undertakes around 34,000 requests per annum of general histopathology.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the service and be a part of the planned extensive laboratory refurbishment. There is also a bid for comprehensive digital histopathology workflow which is being progressed, though digital reporting will remain optional for routine work. The laboratory is currently in negotiation with vendors for a new laboratory information system, a new immunohistochemistry system and end-to-end specimen tracking system.

The job is being offered as up to a 10 programmed activities (PAs) with the option of 2 additional PAs. The department rota is divided equally on a daily rolling rota. Full or part time can be considered depending on the candidate’s requirements.

In addition, candidates who may be relocating from overseas will be provided with help to transition and settle in the UK. The successful candidate will hold GMC specialist registration or be within 6 months of CCT date or within 12 months of expected CESR approval. This job is subject to a police check. Salary will follow NHS pay scales and be from 79,860 up to £107,668 dependent on experience.
