About the role
We are looking for a Consultant Haematologist (Laboratory) to join our team at Wellington.
You will be part of the 8 Clinical and Laboratory Haematologists who provide malignant and non-malignant haematology services including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, a comprehensive haemophilia centre and thrombosis and haemostasis service.
About our team
Wellington Haematology Laboratory is a large tertiary haematology unit providing diagnostic services to the hospital and the community of the greater Wellington Region with a catchment of 500,000 people locally and tertiary services for 1.8 million people. We provide a tertiary level diagnostic service, operated by Wellington SCL within APGH, New Zealand’s largest network of diagnostic laboratories. The laboratory provides general haematology diagnostics as well as specialist flow cytometry, molecular, haemostasis and haemoglobinopathy services. The principal focus of the service is high-quality patient care with particular emphasis on multidisciplinary patient management.
In addition to this we have a strong commitment to staff education/development.
About you
- Vocationally registered in Pathology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRCPA or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
- Fellowship in laboratory haematology is essential or equivalent qualification
- Fellowship in clinical haematology and experience is desirable, but not essential
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training
