Opportunity

Working as part of a skilful multi-discipline team, Head Medical are seeking Consultant anaesthetists to come work in Scotland's largest city Glasgow.

At this award-winning planned care organisation, you will provide general and regional anaesthesia for a range of surgical specialities including orthopaedics, general surgery and colorectal surgery. There is also a particular focus on our highly successful national orthopaedic programme supported by their Enhanced Recovery programme.

Based on the outskirts of the city of Glasgow, the anaesthetic department currently comprises 35 consultants. 13 are specifically allocated to general and orthopaedic surgery, with some support from the 22 cardiothoracic anaesthetists. 10 of the cardiothoracic anaesthetists also provide critical care services. Despite the different clinical focus of the individual groups of Consultant Anaesthetists, the department functions as a single entity.

The successful candidate will support the work of the general group of anaesthetists and deliver service to the Orthopaedic and general surgical elective programs in this NHS board.

The clinical work will include anaesthetic services in theatre, pre-assessment and supporting the Acute Pain Service with 1 personal SPA and the option of covering Saturday working. This can be discussed further on enquiry about post.

Shorter contracts 1-3 years initially to ensure the right skill set/fit is available before moving to permanent roles. However, permanent appointments will also be considered for the right candidates.
