Head Medical is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) located in the Taranaki region of New Zealand.  This is a key leadership role within Mental Health & Addiction Services, offering the opportunity to shape clinical practice, support workforce development, and lead a well-established multidisciplinary team.

  • Monday–Friday position with no on-call requirements

  • Lead a 23-bed acute inpatient unit with a largely recruited workforce

  • Work alongside experienced SMOs, registrars and a strong senior nursing structure

  • Enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a welcoming coastal region

The Role

As Clinical Nurse Manager, you will provide clinical and operational leadership, which includes:

  • 12 General Adult beds

  • 4 Psychogeriatric beds

  • 7 Intensive Psychiatric Care beds

You will lead a workforce of approximately 64 FTE, supported by:

  • Associate Clinical Nurse Manager

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist

  • Clinical Nurse Coordinators (afternoon & weekend shifts)

  • Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Activities Coordinator and administrative staff

  • Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Psychiatric Assistants

The unit works closely with two Senior Medical Officers, including the Clinical Lead for Adult Inpatients, as well as Psychiatry Registrars and House Officers.

The nursing workforce includes a mix of experience levels, with a strong cohort of internationally qualified nurses recruited in recent years. A structured workplan is already in place to support ongoing uplift in clinical practice, backed by a dedicated Mental Health Nurse Educator.

This role reports to the Acute Services Manager (MHAS) and plays a critical part in providing stability, leadership and clinical direction within the inpatient service.

  • A relaxed pace of life without sacrificing professional challenge

What Head Medical can do for you

Arranging a position overseas is very exciting, but we understand that it can also be daunting and time consuming. We’re the UK’s specialist in international medical recruitment and we’ve helped many Doctors relocate since we first started out in 2008 (you can read what people have said about working with us on our testimonials page). We know it’s important to balance career opportunities with lifestyle and we’ll talk through your plans and will get to know you to make sure we find the right role in the right location.  Once we have secured a job for you, we’ll manage the Medical Registration and Visa application process, and support you (and your family) with the relocation itself.
