Acute and General Medicine Specialist 

Where you’ll be working: Acute and General Medicine, Hamilton 

The details: Full-time, 46 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

Acute and General Medicine in Hamilton has a great opportunity for a motivated and dynamic physician who is looking to join a supportive and enthusiastic team.

We aim to continue building on our multidisciplinary service, and therefore the position would be either full-time or split time for applicants with specialty interests. Those with infectious disease or immunology experience would be particularly desirable.

The appointee will be involved in teaching, continuing medical education and quality improvement. There is emphasis on ongoing development of services to meet the needs of our patients. A commitment to patient focus, service development and teamwork are essential.

You will be part of a large dedicated team of physicians, registrars, clinical nurse specialists, allied health and administrative staff.

The applicant must be a passionate team player and must be eligible for or working toward vocational registration in New Zealand.

We plan, fund and provide health and disability support services to a population of more than 400,000. We run five hospitals across the district – a tertiary hospital in Hamilton, a secondary hospital in Thames, and three rural hospitals in Te Kuiti, Taumarunui, and Tokoroa.

The Hospital in Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary, teaching hospitals with over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. Clinical specialities include Women’s and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, and Mental Health and Addiction. The Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.
