About East Kent Hospitals University
As one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, East Kent Hospitals University have five sites across East Kent, caring for a population of around 720,000 people. The Trust has more than 1,000 beds and provides a range of core and specialist healthcare services. They receive more than 200,000 emergency attendances, around 100,000 inpatient spells and 750,000 outpatient attendances per year. From 2007 onwards the hospital became a University hospital and now plays a vital role in the education and training of medical staff, working closely with local universities and Kings College London.

The Hospitals
The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital provides a range of emergency and elective surgeries and comprehensive trauma, orthopaedic, obstetrics, general surgery, and paediatric services. It has a specialist centre for gynaecological cancer and modern operating theatres, ITU facilities as well as a new Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and Cancer Unit.
The William Harvey Hospital is an acute hospital providing a range of emergency and elective services as well as comprehensive maternity, trauma, orthopaedic, paediatric, and neonatal intensive care services. It also boasts a specialist Cardiology unit which undertakes angiography, angioplasty and has a state-of-the-art pathology analytical robotics laboratory that reports all East Kent’s General Practitioner activity as well as a robotic pharmacy facility.
