Head Medical are approved suppliers to many mental health services throughout Australia. Whether it be major metropolitan, regional city or rural services you are interested in, we have recruited overseas trained Psychiatrists in all contexts and understand the unique differences between them with regard to healthcare delivery, remuneration and workplace conditions.
Once we help you secure a position, Head Medical has a dedicated account manager to help and guide you through the college assessment, medical registration and visa processes.
Australia offers Consultant Psychiatrists the opportunity to live and work in an affluent, multicultural and peaceful English speaking country, develop their careers, and enjoy a rewarding lifestyle for themselves and their families. Salaries and allowances are generous, mental health services and hospitals are well-funded, well-staffed and progressive.
Currently sought Psychiatry subspecialties include:
- General Adult (Community and/or Inpatient)
- Child and Adolescent
- Old Age
I also welcome expressions of interest from Forensic, Liaison and Addiction Psychiatrists.
Please note that since 2015 the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) requirements for assessing internationally-trained Consultant Psychiatrists have tightened up considerably.
Psychiatrists who have completed their specialist training in a comparable country of training (NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada and USA), have a minimum of three years’ experience at Consultant level, have completed a formal post of 6 months or more in CAMHS/Learning Disability in training will be most favourably viewed upon by the RANZCP.
FRANZCPs interested in sessional work are also encouraged to get in touch as I work with many private hospitals in each state.
For an informal, no-obligation discussion about working in Australia, salaries, the RANZCP process, education, housing, health, tax, culture, politics, society etc. please get in touch! I am Australian, my children were born there and went to primary school in Sydney. I rented, bought and sold property, used both the private and public health systems, travelled extensively and can comment on many facets of Australian society. I look forward to discussing this with you.
