Making the Move - Junior Doctors Session

Making the Move – Thursday 30th November at 7.00 pm

Join us for our online Making the Move session for Junior Doctors.

The FREE information seminar will be for Junior/Middle-Grade Doctors looking to find out more information about living and working in Australia and New Zealand. 

We will be joined by a New Zealand employer who will answer any questions you may have.

During these seminars, we will provide valuable advice on topics including:

  • working environment 

  • lifestyle

  • registration & licensing

If you are curious about the process of relocating, whether you are simply after more information before deciding, or if you know that you are going to make the move, this is the event for you.

A career move abroad may be complex but is hugely rewarding. Arming yourself with as much knowledge as possible will make the process simpler and the transition easier. So, book your place and find out everything you need to know about making the move overseas. We look forward to seeing you!

Eligibility Criteria

AUSTRALIA

We can only consider candidates who are eligible for Provisional General Registration via the Competent Authority Registration Pathway.  You would be eligible for this pathway if:

  1. You completed your Primary medical degree and Foundation training in the UK OR
    You completed your Primary medical degree outside of the UK, but you have passed the PLAB exams and completed at least 12 months supervised training (Internship equivalent)in the UK

  2. Graduate of a program of basic medical education and training accredited and approved by the Medical Council of Ireland, and for courses conducted wholly or partially outside Ireland, on a list published on the Medical Board of Australia’s website, AND Successful completion of an internship in Ireland (Certificate of experience).

NEW ZEALAND

There are two registration pathways via the Medical Council of New Zealand:

Competent Authority - You completed both your medical degree and foundation training in the UK or Ireland (this pathway is used for junior doctors who have completed foundation training)

Comparable Healthcare -This pathway is suitable for Middle grade doctors who have:

  • a primary medical degree from a university medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools,

  • have worked in a comparable health system(s) for a minimum of 30 hours per week for at least 33 of the last 48 months,

have proposed employment in New Zealand in the same or similar area of medicine, at a similar level of responsibility to the work you have done in the last 48 months, in the same or similar area of medicine, at a similar level of responsibility to the proposed offer of employment
