Tasmania - A destination like no other

Tasmania - A destination like no other

Tasmania, a unique Australian destination, often goes unnoticed by doctors considering a move down under. However, its distinct charm, unparalleled natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage make it a place unlike any other.

Tasmania, or 'Tassie' as it is known, is a compact state home to around 500,000 people and exotic animals, including the infamous Tasmanian Devil. Being an Island, no matter where you are, you are never far from the beautiful coast. The chances are when you do arrive at the beach, you could have it all yourself!

Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania, is a charming blend of history, nature, and culture. Hobart is located on the island's southeastern coast, surrounded by the calming waters of the Derwent River and estuary. In fact, wherever you choose to live, you will enjoy the stunning views each day!

Doctors working in Tasmania enjoy an enviable lifestyle and can choose between rural and urban locations. Being a small island, you can drive from one side of the city to the other in under an hour, and traffic jams are rare. You can have access to beautiful nature without sacrificing easy access to work, schools, and the vibrant culture within the city.

The question that everyone has is – 'Isn't Tasmania colder than the UK?'

Tasmania is known as the coldest state in Australia. If you visit the top of Mount Wellington, you'll likely experience a bit of a chill. However, with an average temperature of 20c to 25c during the summer (December to February) and mild winters, the climate is always warmer on average than the UK.
