Sharon and Karen visit Western Australia!

In our latest blog, we caught up with Karen Prosser and Sharon Spence from our International Consultant Team who recently travelled across Western Australia to visit healthcare providers.

Karen, who originally hails from Western Australia and recruiter for Specialist Doctors to the country spoke about her trip:

"I haven't visited Western Australia in nearly 5 years, I couldn’t believe how much the State has grown in that time! The infrastructure, not just in Perth but all over the south of the State where we visited, has increased dramatically. I felt like a tourist in my home city, discovering all of the new buildings in Perth – I loved it!

We ventured down to the Margaret River wine region on our first weekend and discovered more than just good wine- gin and whisky distilleries, stunning beaches, and great food.  Our second weekend was spent in Perth where we visited Fremantle and Cottesloe Beach to get a photo of the iconic Indiana Tea Rooms and the amazing sunset.

On Sunday, we visited Caversham Wildlife Park so Sharon could pat and feed a Kangaroo. We also met a gorgeous Koala named Luke, a fat wombat and loads of other native animals."

‘Visiting Western Australia was the most incredible experience. Having the opportunity to meet Consultants, Heads of Departments and the medical recruitment teams I have been working with over the years was incredibly valuable.

This was my first visit to the State, and I was keen to explore as much as possible with the view to sharing my knowledge with doctors and nurses looking to make the move. Perth is the most amazing City – Kings Park provides a lot of green space and incredible views. We were never in a traffic jam and the public transport system is fantastic.

I have to say, it is difficult to choose one highlight of our trip. Being welcomed into the hospitals (masked up of course), taken on tours to see the various training rooms, and departments, being able to meet one of my doctors for brunch before starting their new role and meeting one of my nurses in Perth was very exciting! Of course, I can not forget being up close and personal with kangaroos and my little friend Luke the Koala!
