We have seen an increase in requests from our Australian clients to assist with the recruitment of nurses across theatre and mental health. In response, Head Medical have been working with both private and public health providers across Australia.
We have some exciting opportunities available to registered nurses across Australia. Whether you are seeking a 12-month contract to allow you to experience working in a different healthcare system and clinical setting, or perhaps you are looking to make a longer-term move? We hope this provides an insight into how we can help.
Registration Requirements:
To work as a nurse in Australia you need to apply for and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and apply for a visa issued by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
Internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs) who apply for registration with the NMBA are assessed against their registration standards and three qualification criteria.
The NMBA has found that nursing qualifications issued by education institutions in Canada, Hong Kong, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America are likely to meet their registration standards without the need to undergo further professional assessment. As a result, we can assist internationally qualified nurses from these countries to make an application for registration and a work visa.
The registration process can be started with or without an offer of employment. If you already have your registration approval, this can certainly be an advantage with more opportunities being available to you.

Nursing Salaries in Australia
Each state has its own Registered Nurses Agreement and salaries differ from state to state. Essentially, remuneration is based on experience, on average, we tend to find that salaries range between the following per annum:
- Enrolled Nurse/ Staff Nurse: $62,000- $72,000
- Registered Nurse: $69,000 -$92,000
- Clinical Nurse: $91,000 - $106,000
