Head Medical has had the success of recruiting General Practitioner’s across the world for the past 10 years, it’s only been natural for us to enter the Canadian market in the past 18 months.
This is something we are extremely passionate about and with our excellent track record across Australasia and the Middle East we are sure we can continue this in Canada.
Our findings so far have shown that in areas of British Columbia there are critically low numbers of Family Doctors with a great need for International Medical Graduates (IMG’s).
There is an excellent work/life balance to be had in Canada in comparison to the 50-70 hour weeks we find most GP’s being exposed to here in the UK. That combined with the fee for service model operated in Canada means that any doctor interested in working overseas would find it a very appealing option.
Within your first year, you could expect to earn in the region of $250,000 CAD with this increasing to around $400,000 CAD per annum.
Previously it has been difficult to obtain a licence to practice, as well as sponsorship within urban areas. This is something Head Medical can assist you with.
To be considered as “comparable” with The College of Family Physicians for Canada you must hold one of the following qualifications gained through an accredited vocational training scheme – MRCGP, MICGP, FRACGP, ABFM. Should you hold any one of the above qualifications you will be eligible to apply for CCFP without exam but will be required to sit the MCCQE Part 1. The full process will take around 8-10 months to complete.
