It’s been brilliant here so far in NZ! The move was just at the right time of year, there’s been some rain and a bit of cold but for the last month, it has been non-stop sunny weather!
I’ve settled in well, everyone is so friendly. There have been times that I’ve had pangs for home and I miss all my friends and family but no regrets so far.
The surgery that I work in so lovely! The team are brilliant, so friendly and such a good team in terms of how they work and the service they provide for their patients.
I am loving the job. The medicine is similar to the UK but some of the guidelines and meds are a bit different. Everyone is happy to help though. The appointments are longer, and the patients are lovely.
Living in Auckland is lots of fun, I drive a bit of a commute but it’s easy and very little traffic in the direction I go in. I have joined a triathlon club and made lots of friends through this. Also, other people I was put in contact with out here have been so friendly too. The NZ people really are so relaxed and friendly. They are so proud of showing their lovely country off so it is easy to get advice and find things to do. It is a long way from home, but the lifestyle and life-work balance is worth it in my opinion, at least for now and hopefully the foreseeable future!
You were right – it really is a great place to live! I would recommend it without reservation.
