Nicky joined Head Medical back in March 2009 making her part of the ‘Original 4’. Nicky has been part of the team since the early days, not only has she seen the business grow from scratch but has developed her career along the way.
‘I was lucky enough to join Head Medical as employee number 4! I came on board initially to look at nurse recruitment into Australia and New Zealand. Despite recruiting a couple of nurses into Melbourne, I turned my attention to GPs. Very quickly, it became evident that there was a real appetite for GPs to relocate to ANZ and there was a big shortage across both countries.
I remember spending what felt like months trying to get my head around the medical registration requirements and legislation for GPs to work in Australia, wondering if I would ever make sense of the red tape and hoops that needed to be jumped through to get a GP ready to work! Eventually, with a lot of hard work, determination and a lot of late night calls we had our first few GPs arrive and commence work in their new dream destinations around ANZ.
I feel so lucky and proud to have had an opportunity to start a part of the business from scratch, the satisfaction that comes with working hard to develop something from nothing and then see it become a success has been the best possible career experience for me. None of this would have been possible without the support, incredibly hard work and camaraderie from my colleagues and management teams over the years. We truly have been on this journey together and I’ve been lucky to have made fantastic friends along the way, both from fellow team members, candidates and clients around Australia who I’ve now been working with for 10 years!
I hung up my recruitment hat at the end of 2017 after helping almost 200 GPs relocate down under. It’s been such a rewarding and challenging decade which has actually flown in. I’ve spent ¼ of my life with Head Medical and still feel as passionate and committed to the business as I did back on day 1!’
