101 Beaches Best Beaches in Oz – Our Picks

We recently came across this website featuring Australia’s 101 best beaches and after a particularly rainy week in Edinburgh, we just couldn’t help it – we had to take another look. Whilst we would of course love to visit all of these beaches, here’s a list of favourites by our well-travelled team:

Emma:
I would highly recommend Cottesloe beach in Perth – a fantastic place to watch the sun go down.

I am also very excited about visiting world-famous Wineglass Bay in Tasmania as part of my Australia trip this month.

Chloe:
I’ve been to two of the beaches on the list – Bondi and Manly, both in NSW. Both beautiful beaches, but Manly was my favourite as not only was the beach breathtakingly beautiful, it backed onto Manly itself, a beautiful laid back town with a lovely laid back atmosphere and full of interesting places to hang out (not to mention several places to eat amazing food).

Nicky G:
For me it has to be Palm Cove in QLD – very tropical with its fringe of coconut palms.

Caroline:
I went to see the surf competitions at Bells Beach along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, awesome swells and great viewing spots from above. Bells is world famous among the surfing fraternity and has been used in films such as ‘Point Break’ and ‘The Endless Summer’.

Nicky M:
Glenelg Beach, Adelaide, South Australia – just a nice atmosphere, shops nearby and only a tram ride from the city.

And of course Rainbow Beach, Cooloola Coast, Queensland. Just beautiful. Snorkelling, scuba diving and jeep rides along the sand!

Jonathan:
Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island. It’s closely situated to the magnificent Hamilton Island. Whitehaven is unique in that the sand is 98% silica, which means it has a fantastic white colour and also doesn’t retain heat the way sand normally does. If you have ever tried to walk across sand barefoot when it's 30+ degrees, you’ll know how painful that awkward dance can be! On Whitehaven Beach you can comfortably walk around barefoot whilst exploring the island and also take a dip in the warm, turquoise water.

Is it time to start packing?
