Week Two of Australia’s Top Affordable Cities Continues With New South Wales


New South Wales is Australia’s most populous state. With average housing prices in the capital exceeding $1M more Australian families, and those coming from abroad, are moving to the states more affordable regional cities.



Tamworth is a 405 km drive from Sydney and has a population of over 58,000 residents. With an average house price of $325,000 it is attracting more and more families looking for a great lifestyle outside the capital. Investment in infrastructure in the region is soaring promoting economic growth and job creation.

It’s an area renowned for its country hospitality and natural beauty. The region has a packed events calendar, and is known as a food and wine hub due to its agriculture industry. Tamworth is Australia’s country music capital, hosts road and mountain bike competitions and if you love horse riding it is the place for you!





On the banks of the beautiful Hunter River, Maitland is one of the oldest heritage centres in Australia just two hours’ drive north of Sydney and 35 minutes from Newcastle Airport. The area has a population of over 76,000 and a median house price of $420,000. It is experiencing steady annual growth supported by significant local infrastructure investment.

Maitland offers families a range of great schools and has a bustling shopping area.  Regional recreational activities include camping, kayaking and other water sports and great fishing in the rivers or down at the ocean 30 minutes away.




Shoalhaven is a string of coastal villages south of Sydney and contains the regional centres of Nowra and Ulladulla. A 3 hour drive south of Sydney; the region has a population of around 100,000 and it is renowned for its stunning beaches and clear coastal waters. With a median house price of $470,000 it is experiencing a surge in demand which has been met by new residential developments adding 800+ dwellings and subdivisions to try to keep up with demand.

Jervis Bay is one of the region’s most beautiful locations with its white-sand beaches and clear turquoise waters it is amongst the safest and most beautiful bays in the world. Coastal, marine and hinterland National Parks offer fantastic bushwalking, cycling tracks, Indigenous culture, camping spots, cliff-top lookouts and maritime                                                                                         heritage.
