The desire for an improved work / life balance is a significant factor for many Doctors considering living and working overseas. In addition to finding that dream job, the decision regarding where to live is equally important in achieving long-term satisfaction with your decision to relocate.
Recently, the Economist compiled its annual list of the top 10 'most liveable' cities in the world, taking into account lifestyle factors such as political stability, quality of healthcare, education, and environment. Australian cities fared extremely well, with Melbourne retaining top spot from last year, Adelaide taking 5th, and Perth securing 7th. The full list is as follows:
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to deciding where to live. Are you a city or a country type of person? A high-rise flat in town or a detached house in the suburbs? If you're relocating with a family then other factors come into play. Public or private schools? Which cities have the best tertiary education options? Which locations have the most recreational opportunities?
We have amazing job opportunities across Australia for both GPs and Consultants, in locations covering many of the lifestyle preferences listed above. Many of our recruiters have experience of living and working in the destinations to which we recruit, and are happy to share their knowledge with Doctors keen to make the move.
