We are pleased to have helped over 500 doctors to make the move overseas. To mark the 500th Doctor starting work Jim Godsal, our Business Development Director, has taken a look at what this means for us here at Head Medical.
Last month Dr Carol Moon, a GP from London, started a new job in the Western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. In the process of beginning a new life down under Dr Moon became the 500th Doctor Head Medical have helped start work overseas.
We’ve placed Doctors in a wide variety of locations over the last 7 years, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the Gulf, Kazakhstan, Zambia, Canada, the Caribbean, the Falkland Islands, and St Helena.
Each and every journey is different, with varying reasons for the move. Some move permanently, some just for a year or two. Some move alone, others take partners, children, pets, classic cars or wine collections. Some moves are straight forward, others are anything but.
Through all the moves we’ve been able to support the Doctors with our knowledge and experience gained from those that have gone before. We understand the nuances of the licensing and registration processes but we also understand how important it is to get all the other more human aspects right too when you’re moving thousands of miles. Some of us have made similar journeys ourselves.
I moved with my wife and young children out to the Gulf 5 years ago and we relied enormously on friends who had made the same move not long before. They’d broken the ground and could warn us of what to expect, what the frustrations and delays would be and, most importantly, that it would all come good in the end.
Moving is stressful, moving thousands of miles to a new country, climate and culture, away from your network of friends and family is even more stressful! It’s a lot easier when you’re supported every step of the way. That way you can start to relax and enjoy the adventure!
