After 9 months of discussion, speculation and confusion, the Australian government has today announced that a suggested $5 charge to visit the Doctor will no longer be introduced.

News of the scheme's demise has been greeted with relief by many Doctors, healthcare organisations and patients whose support the controversial measure had been unable to elicit.
