About Royal Darwin Hospital

The RDH is a 345-bed tertiary hospital that serves a population of over 142,000 people in a catchment area including urban communities, regional hospitals, and remote Aboriginal communities. The hospital provides a broad range of referral services in all specialty areas.
The catchment area for RDH incorporates Darwin, the East Arnhem region and the Katherine region to the Southeast. Patients may also be retrieved from the Kimberley region of Western Australia, as well as areas of Indonesia, back to RDH for management.
It is the largest teaching hospital in the Northern Territory and is also recognised as Australia's National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC). Palmerston Regional Hospital is a satellite campus providing lower acuity elective surgical services.
