Associate Partner (NZ)
As an Associate Partner of Head Medical, I get to spend all day speaking with Doctors about the fantastic lifestyle and career opportunities available in New Zealand, which I absolutely love. I am originally from the beautiful coastal town of Mount Maunganui, in the Bay of Plenty (NZ), and although I lived in Scotland for 20 years, I always managed to pop back home every so often for the sunshine, the white sandy beach, quality family time and the best “flat white” coffees in the world.
Now I’m here permanently, having made the move back home to New Zealand in September 2017. I'm based in Wellington. And I know and appreciate what an international move involves, whether its fixed term or permanent.
I’ve been working with Doctors ever since I left University, working in a large Health Authority in Auckland, NZ; as an HR Manager in NHSScotland recruiting specialist trainees at a national level; to recruiting Consultant Doctors on behalf of Head Medical to New Zealand and Australia for all medical specialties. I've placed Doctors from the UK, USA, South Africa, Western Europe & Scandinavia all around New Zealand and Australia in the last 7 years.
Background: A Kiwi with Shetland connections.
Loves: My rescue cats and all animals in general, the smell of the Pacific Ocean, true crime docos, mafia movies, dining al fresco with good friends, Survivor: the TV show (Yes, I’m a superfan).
Dream Destination: Venice, Sicily, Hawaii
Inspired by: My Mum who has MS and amazes me all the time. Last year, she went surfing and advocated for disabled access on public buses. This year, she turned 70, self-published a poetry book and now she’s trying NeuroPhysics Therapy.
Claim to Fame: My husband and I wrote and produced a comedy play (sitcom) called “Sweet As” about myself and my Aussie and Kiwi backpacker posse living in Edinburgh. We had sold out shows in London, it was almost picked up by British TV. Almost. It was weird meeting the actor who played me.
Best New Zealand Memories: Too many to mention… but some personal favourites: stomping grapes to make wine in my Grandad’s garden every year, digging for pipis at the beach and cooking them on the BBQ, holidaying at the family ‘Bach’ in the Coromandel every summer, experiencing the views from the summit of Mauao, soaking in the natural salt water hotpools at the base of Mount Maunganui, sunrise on the beach at Papamoa – But I say, go and make your own memories!
