This is an exceptional opportunity to work in Australia's most cosmopolitan city - Australia's gateway to South East Asia. From here you can fly direct to all major metropolitan Australian cities but also direct to Singapore in 4.5hrs, Indonesia (Bali) in just under 3hrs and the Philippines in 4.5hrs.
Other benefits of Darwin include:
- Top private schools.
- Strong multi-cultural ethos.
- Gate way to adventure for families, singles and couples.
- 1st class amenities you'd expect in a modern metropolitan centre.
- Rehab service is expanding and moving to purpose built, brand new facility.
The Royal Darwin Hospital is a 360 bed teaching facility servicing a population of approx. 140,000.
The Rehab service offers a broad service with a diverse casemix that includes stroke/neuro, amputee, spinal cord injury, brain injury, orthopaedic, multitrauma. Unique issues include CNS melioidosis, Hansen's disease and embolic stroke due to rheumatic heart disease.
There is an 18 bed general rehab ward. Indigenous people make up approx. half of inpatients so this is a interesting opportunity to work in indigenous health and culture, and also Outreach clinics. These clinics cover prosthetics/orthotics, chronic pain and brain injury.
You will be a specialist in Rehab Medicine and applicants are welcome who are AFRM (FRACP) or have an equivalent status. Applicants who are IMGs and have already been assessed or are in the process of being assessed by RACP will be considered highly.
