Locum Surgical RGN's Required for ongoing assignment in Shetland.
Head Medical is looking for 2 Registered Nurses with Surgical experience to join the team in Shetland.
Ideal candidates should have the following:
- Full Registration with NMC with no restrictions
- Minimum of 18 months post-graduate experience
- Surgical ward experience
- HDU experience desirable but not essential
- Experience in Venepuncture, Cannulation, IV Drug Administration, ECG, ILS, PLS
Job Role:
Full-time hours over days, Night and Weekends. There will be on-call responsibilities.
Ward One / HDU / DSU provides care to surgical patients within Shetland serving the island's population but also acting as a front-line service for ‘North Sea’ personnel on marine vessels and off-shore installations as the nearest tertiary hospital is 200 miles away. Patients from a wide range of specialities receive care on the ward, these include ENT, ophthalmology, gynaecology, orthopaedic, paediatric as well as general surgery, High Dependency and Day Surgery.

The ward has 22 beds, 2 which are allocated to High Dependency and a 6 bedded Day Surgery Unit. Occasionally there will be the need to care for medical patients within the high dependency unit and the main ward.
Stabilisation and aero-medical transfer to mainland Scotland.
Travel to and from the island and single accommodation will be provided by the Health Board.
