Principle House Officer - Geriatrician role in the stunning sub-tropical coastal region of Queensland, Australia.

This is an opportunity for PGY4+ Registrar/SHO with minumum 12 months experience in either Geriatric Medicine or General Medicine who would be interested in taking a year to specialise in Australia, before returning home to complete training.

The Roles 

This is a 12 month contract at Principle House Office/Registrar level where you will provide high quality medical services in the patient centred interdisciplinary team within the Sub Acute Geriatric Evaluation Unit (SAGE).

Operationally you will report to the Director of Aged Care Clinical and Rehabilitation Services and work co-operatively with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Allied Health Team Leader.

The Requirements

  • PGY4 +
  • MBBS or equivalent to enable current registration or eligibility for registration with (AHPRA) is mandatory
  • Minimum 1 year Geriatric Medicine or General Medicine experience

The Hospital


Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland.  The Sub Acute Geriatric Evaluation Unit at Rockhampton Hospital houses sixteen sub acute geriatric evaluation beds and eleven interim care beds.   Specialist Medical Services offered at the Rockhampton Hospital include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland.
