Consultant Radiologist

The Role;

We are seeking suitably qualified Consultant Radiologists to join our dynamic Radiology team and to contribute to the development of the Radiology department. 

Candidates with subspecialty skills in Ultrasound (including Obstetric, Gyne and MSK) or interests are preferred. Candidates with a broad general scope and ideally subspecialty skills in interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, body imaging, chest or paediatric radiology would be also considered.

The Team & Department:

The department is currently expanding and we have one vacancy in our team (currently 10 FTE) for a qualified Consultant Radiologists. 

Our Radiologists are currently part of a cohesive, friendly team in one of the more advanced departments in the country. The work of the department is varied and often challenging. The Radiologists are by necessity multi skilled, but the development of a special interest is supported.

The single site department is situated centrally within the hospital and has the following facilities.

  • 128 Slice GE Discovery CT750 HD scanner
  • Modern 1.5T GE MRI
  • GE Discovery NM/CT 670 - SPECT/CT with 16 slice CT scanner
  • 4 ultrasound machines (including 3 x GE Logiq E9)
  • Siemens Artis catheter and vascular laboratory (Angio)
  • Siemens Artis multipurpose fluoroscopy unit  
  • 3 General X-ray rooms including 2 dual-detector DR rooms (Philips)
  • Fully integrated RIS/PACS and voice recognition (Philips)

Hawke’s Bay Radiologists have a collegial approach and an active commitment to ongoing education. Multidisciplinary meetings are held daily, weekly or monthly with virtually all specialties being involved.

Since the inception of teleradiology there is no night time on call requirement. Weekend day call is covered by a roster attracting additional payment, which all Radiologist are expected to participate in.

Our Organisation:

Is large enough to provide variety and depth of work experience, with good support and supervision, yet small enough to be a friendly team with good social interaction. The Hospital is a 400 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region.  We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care. 

We are a teaching hospital and in partnership with Wellington Medical School, University of Otago and the local EIT.
