Location

If you’re not familiar with this part of New Zealand, Rotorua and the Lakes region is stunning and an area of unique natural beauty and geothermal activity, offering a great outdoors lifestyle, perfect for taking advantage of the region’s hot summers and mild winters.

Although it’s a relatively small city (population 59,000), it’s vibrant and has a huge tourist and adventure sports industry that drives the local economy and welcomes tourists from all over the world, all year round.  If you enjoy the adrenalin buzz; hanging off rocks, bungeeing off bridges, rafting down fierce water, kayaking on the lakes, competing in triathlons, ziplining through trees, riding some great mountain bike trails, then you’ll love it here…

But there’s lots to do if you also enjoy a more leisurely pace of life too, with funky little cafés, bars and restaurants, trout fishing, sailing, exploring the many lakes and walking trails, as well as the proximity to places such as the beaches in Tauranga (1hr drive), Hamilton (1hr 20min) and Auckland (3 hrs). You can simply enjoy living in a unique location in a lovely climate.

It’s also an area steeped in history and legend, a place where Tikanga Māori (Māori culture) is celebrated – making this a truly unique place to live.  As a long term living option, its ideal for families with affordable quality housing and an excellent choice of schools.

There is a domestic airport with daily flights to Auckland’s international airport, making connections to/from Rotorua very easy (45 minutes).

Requirements for this role

Ideally, you will hold FRANZCR and full Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

Alternatively, if not NZ-trained, you will hold equivalent specialist qualifications from either the UK (via CCT), Australia (FRANZCR), Canada (FRCPSC)(DR), South Africa (FC Rad Diag(SA)) or the USA (American Board Certified) that will enable specialist registration with Medical Council of New Zealand via the Provisional Vocational registration (long term) pathway or Locum Tenens (short term, up to 12 months) registration pathway.

These are the specialist pathways for medical registration in NZ for radiologists and we can assist with medical registration and facilitate the work visa, if successfully appointed.
