Radiation Oncologist 

Are you a Radiation Oncologist looking for a new opportunity? Then the stunning North Island of ew Zealand may be the place for you!

Our client is dedicated to provide international best practice in the field of radiation therapy using state of the art technology. The department has a wide-bore CT-simulator, 2 Varian Truebeam linear accelerators each with a six degrees of freedom couch, 2 Siemens multi-modality linear accelerators and superficial X-ray unit. The department uses RayStation treatment planning system and MOSAIQ patient management system.  There are well established and accredited IMRT, VMAT, IGRT and SBRT programs. Exciting Siemens linac replacement will occur in the next three years.

You will be part of a team of seven Radiation Oncologists with a variety of specialist interests in all adult malignancies.  The department requires the applicant to work as a general Radiation Oncologist although there is the potential to develop an area of subspecialty cancer interest.

The department is well supported with 3 registrars in training posts, specialist nursing staff and a psycho-oncology service. We practice in collegial partnership with Medical Oncologists, Haematologists and Palliative Care Physicians. There is a strong culture of multidisciplinary meetings and an active clinical trials portfolio.

The Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital which services the region with a population of 168,000.  It is a teaching hospital and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

The Regional Cancer Treatment Service covers a wider area including Hawkes Bay, Whanganui and Taranaki with a total population of over 560,000.   The Regional Service includes Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Haematology. Some travel is required in order to service the region.

Applicants must be eligible for registration and recognition as a Radiation Oncologist with the Medical Council of New Zealand, as well as having demonstrated clinical, management and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
