 Permanent, full-time position

The Orthopaedic service at Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau are now seeking an experienced Consultant to join the team. This is a full-time role based in Whangārei but will also involve travel to our rural hospitals in the mid and far north regions.
 
Here is the opportunity to join a fabulous department in the North, you will be part of a well-supported collegial Department with nine other Senior Consultants and eight Registrars including three Trainees and four House Officers.
 
Duties include supervision of acute operating lists; leading ward rounds, clinics, elective operating (particularly arthroplasty but can be geared to interest and skill set), on call duties within the SMO team and involvement in audit; teaching, undertaking research and participating in continuing professional development.
 
The subtropical Northland region stretches upwards from Auckland to the very top of NZ covering an area of 12,600 square kilometres with a growing population of more than 190,000. Northland is a story of two coastlines – the west coast is rugged and soulful while the east coast is relatively more sophisticated and urbane. Boasting some of the most scenic and exciting seaside areas in the country, there is a range of popular attractions and recreational activities. We are also a two-hour drive or 25-minute flight from the international hub of Auckland. 
 
To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in an Orthopaedic Surgery vocational scope of practice. For more information about the MCNZ registration process, please visit
