Locum ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse Required for NHS Shetland!
Head Medical is recruiting for a nurse or ODP who is competent in both anaesthetics for a short-term contract of 6 weeks starting MOnday 1st December until 12th January 2026. We are looking for candidates who have current registeration with NMC/HCPC and have a minimum of 2 years' current theatre experience. There will be on-call requirements, which include supporting the anaesthetist in Maternity, A&E and HDU as part of the anaesthetics role.
The theatre suite includes 2 large operating rooms with adjoining anaesthetic rooms, a 2 bay recovery unit and an Endoscopy decontamination facility. The in-house surgeons take most elective and emergency procedures and obstetric emergencies, while visiting consultants undertake dental, maxillofacial, ENT, Ophthalmology and paediatric surgery. The recovery unit can be used as a level 3 HDU facility and critically ill patients awaiting transfer to tertiary hospitals.
Suitable candidates must have the following:
- Current NMC/HCPC registration, with no restrictions
- Competent in anaesthetics, recovery roles essential. Experience in scrub would be desirable
- Previous experience within an emergency on-call team is essential
