There are also opportunities to take on non-clinical portfolios such as risk management, clinical governance, service development and labour ward management. All doctors will participate in the Obstetrics on call register. Full support will be provided by Head Medical on medical registration and immigration. Financial and practical relocation assistance will also be provided to successful candidates.

The Location

The regional city of Hamilton (population 156,000), offers an attractive lifestyle. Situated on the banks of the Waikato River, river, this pleasant city has beautiful parks and gardens, a vibrant city centre and regularly plays host to major sporting and cultural events. Good quality housing is readily available and very affordable; Schools (public and private) have an excellent reputation, and there is a thriving university and student population.  There is also a local airport with many daily domestic flights.  When you want to go further afield, New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland is a mere 90 minutes away and is also the closest international airport.

The central location, also gives access to many unique and wonderful attractions. Within an easy drive are some of the North Island’s best surf beaches and most beautiful coast line and you’ll be surrounded by beautiful country side, made famous as The Shire in the Lord of The Rings films. Other possibilities include the beautiful Waitomo Caves, filled with glow worms and underground rivers, the famous Cathedral Cove or Raglan Beach, swimming with wild dolphins in the Bay of Plenty, skiing and hiking at Tongariro Natural Park, Lake Taupo and the geothermal delights of Rotorua. You might also find yourself taking in an exhibition, concert or sporting event in Auckland or Hamilton, skydiving, hot air ballooning, hiking, fishing or sailing.  One thing’s for sure you will never be stuck for something to see or do on New Zealand’s fabulous North Island. This is a perfect place to experience the famously high Kiwi quality of life, whilst also enjoying a fresh professional challenge. If you are interested, please contact me in strict confidence to have an initial and informal discussion.

Why NZ?

New Zealand is becoming more and more a location of choice for those who previously considered Australia as the most desirable location down under. Its rapid growth compared to other developed countries has recently been referred to as a “rock star economy” and it was voted the best place in world to raise a family by the 2014 HSBC Expat Explorer Survey, with the report describing it as “an ideal destination to raise active, outdoorsy and healthy children.”

Medical professionals are well-remunerated and enjoy good working conditions and an excellent work life balance in New Zealand.

There’s never been a better time to look more closely at what NZ has to offer:

  • No geographical restrictions – opportunities in major cities, towns, coastal, and rural locations
  • Great transport links, most locations fly to International Airports making flight connections to/from NZ easy
  • Excellent educational system, with private and public schools as well as a number of tertiary institutions
  • Strong real estate market and affordable housing to suit your style – apartment, townhouse, or lifestyle block
  • Incredible scenery and diverse wildlife – explore the great outdoors from beaches to mountains, see dolphins, whales and native birds
  • Living well and feeling healthy is embraced as a lifestyle for all the family
