Head Medical currently have an opportunity for a Non-Consultant Hospital Doctor (NCHD) in General Medicine to work in beautiful Gibraltar for 12 months. Ideally the successful Doctor will be able to commence the job in January or February 2020. Applications are invited from experienced SHO's and Registrars who hold a minimum of 3 years' experience in Acute General Medicine and related medical sub-specialities, including coronary care. It would be advantageous for Doctors to have MRCP and you must hold registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council. Medical NCHD’s are resident on-call 1 in 7 and supported by five Consultant Physicians and resident intensivists. Doctors are expected to be competent in dealing with acute medical emergencies when on-call. 

The Gibraltar Health Service is organised and modelled on UK NHS and follows traditions of British medical practice. Gibraltar is located at the mouth of the Mediterranean with easy access to the South of Spain and Morocco, as a British Overseas Territory, English is the main language with Spanish widely spoken. These posts give an opportunity for enthusiastic Junior Doctors to develop their skills in a relaxed, friendly environment whilst enjoying the benefits of the Mediterranean climate and surrounding amenities.

The salary per annum is dependent on years of reckonable service as a Senior House Officer, or equivalent and the salary scale ranges from £63,382 to £88,248. This is inclusive of a 100% out of hours supplement, in respect of a 1:6 resident on call.  In addition, economy class air-fares from the UK to Gibraltar return are payable in full and rented accommodation is subsidised, where the maximum amount per month is dependable on family composition. 

Non-EU nationals should note that a Schengen Visa is required in order to be able to transit through Europe. This is obtained from the applicant’s place of residence. Please note that Schengen Visas cannot be obtained through Gibraltar. This job is subject to a police check.
